Dr. Giacalone earned his B.A. and Ph.D. at Columbia University and his MBA at St. John's University. He previously served fifteen years as Associate Dean and four years as Dean of the College of Business Administration. His publications are in the areas of health care economics, business and economic history, economic thought, industry studies, and collegiate business educa. His current research includes: •The nursing home and pharmaceutical industries •MBA curriculum trends •Commercialization of outer space He is formerly a referee for the Southern Business Review and the American Journal of Economics and Sociology. He has had newspaper, radio, and television interviews on current economic issues. His memberships include the American Economic Association and the American Association of University Professors. His current University service includes President (honorary) of the Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter and the Executive, Board of the St. John's AAUP Chapter. He was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Alpha Sigma Lambda. Recipient of Army ROTC Eisenhower Award and University's Outstanding Administrative Achievement Medal. Service awards from CBA, Beta Gamma Sigma, Alexander Grant and Co., and the Internal Revenue Service. The Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter's Professor of the Year Award is named in his honor.
