NIH RPPR MFTRP Certification Requirement

Per National Institutes of Health (NIH) Notice NOT-OD-26-018, all senior/key personnel listed in Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) must now individually certify that they are not participating in a  Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program(MFTRP).

According to the related NIH FAQ, the certification language included in the RPPR must match the statement used in the Common Forms for the Biosketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support. The required statement is:

“I [insert name] certify that, at the time of submission, I am not a party to a malign foreign talent recruitment program.”

Each senior/key person must provide a signed certification (electronic or ink signature). The file must be saved as MFTRPcert_[Name].pdf (replacing “[Name]” with the individual’s name), and the PDF must be flattened before upload.

A statement template is available here: NIH MFTRP Certification.docx

NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy

As of January 25, 2023, the NIH has implemented an updated Data Management and Sharing Policy that applies to all NIH-funded research that generates scientific data, regardless of funding mechanism. Compliance with this policy requires submission of a Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP) with the funding application, outlining the plan for managing, preserving, and sharing project data. This guide provides recommendations for creating a compliant DMSP.
