Katherine C. Aquino, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership for the School of Education at St. John’s University. Katherine received a B.S. in Psychology, M.A. in School Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy. Katherine also has an advanced certificate in instructional design and delivery.

Katherine is dedicated to investigating the complexity of disability in the postsecondary setting. Her work has been published in the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, Journal of College Student Development, and the Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability, among others.

Katherine has supported academic programs requiring accreditation and review from the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), and the New York State Education Department (NYSED). She has significant experience in accreditation, assessment, and program review.

Research Interests

Katherine’s research interests include the socio-academic transitioning into and within the higher education environment for students with disabilities and post-traditional students.
