Eric A. Akuoko

Dr. Akuoko is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Science Education and a (statistics/research methods) faculty in the Curriculum and Instruction doctoral program in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, St. John's University, NY. Additionally, He recently got appointed as the Program Director for the Curriculum and Instruction Ph.D. Program. Dr Akuoko wields over 24 years of experience as a preservice (science) teacher mentor and as a K12 science educator.
Dr. Akuoko's research focuses on the mediating role and use of epistemic tools (arguments, argumentations, dialogue, language, etc.) for inquiry-based science teaching/learning, Assessments in science education, multilevel modeling of clustered data in education, relationship between (science) teachers' epistemic beliefs/theoretical orientations and classroom learning environments. Other research interests include Graduate Students Teaching Professional Development and Teacher Professional Development. Dr. Akuoko has both quantitative and qualitative methodological expertise.
