This page offers an introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, essential terminology, and guidelines for responsibly using AI in academic and administrative settings at St. John’s University. We will update the content as new tools become available
🛠️ AI Tools for Everyone
AI tools have become widely available and user-friendly, allowing individuals across all skill levels to harness their power and make everyday tasks easier and more efficient.

Grammarly is a cloud-based writing tool that helps users proofread and edit their documents. It checks for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors and offers real-time assistance to improve the content's clarity, cohesiveness, fluency, and vocabulary.
To access Grammarly, log in to the Grammarly website with your St. John’s credentials, or search for the Grammarly app in the SignOn dashboard.

Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered assistant designed to enhance productivity and streamline workflows by providing contextual assistance, automating tasks, and analyzing data across various Microsoft products. It comes with Commercial Data Protection, which ensures that sensitive business data used in the tool is safeguarded by preventing it from being stored or used to train AI models, as it occurs with free tools. Co-pilot acts as a digital companion, offering support with tasks like writing, summarizing, creating content, and even generating images. You can create agents to automate tasks. Thanks to its integration with Microsoft 365 apps, AI-generated content can be transferred into Microsoft files, such as Word documents or PowerPoint presentations.

The next evolution of creative AI is here. Now you can create images, video, audio, and vector graphics in the Firefly app. Ideate, create and collaborate on concepts with Firefly Boards. And work with the latest, greatest, commercially safe Firefly generative AI models. Students taking classes in our creative labs will have access to Adobe tools, including Firefly.
