Dr. Jin Zhi

Dr. Zhi is a visual effects artist with extensive experience in feature films, including the Academy Award-winning "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," "Prometheus," "Wrath of the Titans," and "John Carter."
In recent years, as a VFX and compositing supervisor, Jin has worked on numerous TV commercials for international brands such as Volkswagen, Adidas, Volvo, Lincoln SUV, Bosideng clothing, and Haier. He possesses a diverse skill set that encompasses on-set supervision, data measurement, 3D CGI and animation, high-end compositing, traditional life drawing, etc. He deeply understands visual effects pipelines and workflow in production.

Dr. Zhi began his academic career as a lecturer in 3D animation and VFX and later advanced to become a senior lecturer in film visual effects at UK higher education institutions. While working as a lecturer, he earned his PG Cert in Higher Education and was awarded a fellowship at the UK Higher Education Academy (Advance HE). Additionally, he has held the title of Certified Nuke Trainer by the Foundry in London, UK since 2015.

In 2018, Dr. Zhi relocated to New York City. Currently, he serves as a full-time, tenured Associate Professor at St. John's University, where he leads courses in visual effects, compositing, and 3D CGI for film production and 3D animation.
