Denise Dragos is a full time Instructor in the Cyber Security Systems Program at St. John's University, Queens, NY. She completed three years as an adjunct professor before joining the faculty of the College of Professional Studies. She formerly worked as a Manager in the New York City office of KPMG’s U.S. Forensic Advisory Services. She has also worked as a private computer security consultant and is a retired NYPD cyber Detective. Denise specializes in network security, information assurance, incident response, and digital forensics. She is also licensed NYS private investigator. Denise Dragos retired from the New York City Police Department, after twenty years of service, as a Detective, Second Grade. She was assigned to the Computer Crimes Squad for eleven years, where she was responsible for investigating all computer based crimes including computer intrusions, identity theft, online fraud, theft of intellectual property, and crimes against children on the Internet. Detective Dragos often rendered assistance to other Detectives investigating traditional crimes which had a digital or online component, such as homicides, robberies, narcotics sales, stalking, and harassment. As a senior member of the squad, she also coordinated the in-service training program and annual purchasing budget. Prior to her cyber assignment, Denise Dragos worked patrol, plainclothes anti-crime, and narcotics enforcement. Denise Dragos earned a MS in Information Systems, with a concentration in Information Assurance and Computer Security, and a BS in Computer Science from Pace University. She was accepted into Pace’s Doctorate in Professional Studies in Computing program. She holds SANS GSEC Gold, GCIH, and GREM certifications. Detective Dragos has presented at Molloy College, St. John’s, Pace, and Quinnipiac Universities, local HTCIA chapter meetings, and the HTCIA International Conference on computer security and digital forensic topics.
