Cynthia Phillips is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accountancy in the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University and also serves as Executive Director of the University's Center for Teaching and Learning and Office of Online Learning. She teaches courses in financial, managerial, cost, and governmental/not-for-profit accounting. Prior to her faculty appointment in 2012, Dr. Phillips served as Associate Dean for Planning, Accreditation, Finance, and Business Programs. She has experience as an internal auditor and management accountant in the investment banking industry, where she worked prior to joining St. John’s in 1989. Dr. Phillips’ research interests are in the area of not-for-profit accounting in educational settings and research related to ESG and corporate board diversity. She has numerous conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publications. Dr. Phillips is a CPA in New York State, holds an Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership and an MBA in Finance from St. John’s University, a BBA in Accounting from Hofstra University, and a post-doctoral certificate in Accounting/Finance from the University of Florida’s Warrington School of Business.
