Zhuoyao (Peter) Li, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Dr. Li's areas of specialization include social and political philosophy, ethics, and comparative political theory.  His current research focuses on the political nature of the state and the relationship between state actions and the values of citizens in both Western and Eastern contexts.  Dr. Li's articles appear in several peer-reviewed journals, including Philosophy East & West and Ethics & Global Politics. His upcoming book, Political Liberalism and Democracy in East Asia is under contract with Springer.  Dr. Li also serves as Managing Editor of the journal Philosophy & Social Criticism.
