- Xiao Lin, Ph.D.
Xiao (Joyce) Lin is an Associate Professor at the Greenberg School of Risk Management in the Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University. Before joining St. John’s, Joyce was an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut. She received her PhD in Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and a BA in Economics and BS in Statistics from Peking University in Beijing, China. Her research primarily focuses on insurance economics and catastrophe risk. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, the Journal of Risk and Insurance, and Insurance: Mathematics and Statistics. In addition to research, Joyce has taught a wide range of courses related to statistics, risk management and insurance, and health and life insurance. She currently teaches both risk management and actuarial science courses at St. John’s University.
