Phyllis Conn

Associate Professor

Dr. Phyllis Conn in an Associate Professor in the Department of Core Studies. She teaches First Year Seminar with a focus on immigration and the core history course, Emergence of a Global Society. Her research interests focus on immigration, especially from Russia and Ukraine to New York City, and the core curriculum in higher education. Dr. Conn served as Director and then Chair of the Department from 2019 – 2024.  

Dr. Conn has significant experience with high impact practices and global learning. She has led University-level short-term study abroad experiences in Rome, Italy, and Paris, France, over several years. She has participated in international conferences and workshops in the United States and in Edinburgh, Scotland; Paris, France; and Santiago de Compestela, Spain. During her graduate work, she conducted research for 12 months in Moscow, Russia.
