Michael R. Sampson, PhD, is a Professor of Literacy at St. John’s University in New York City. Having served as Dean of Colleges of Education in New York, Connecticut, and Arizona, his expertise is in Higher Education Leadership, as well as Early Literacy and Children’s Literature.

Sampson has been deeply involved in international education, having set up exchange programs for his students and programs of study in Australia, Italy, Germany, China, and Ukraine. He has also set up programs in Arizona and New York City to host international students from China, Italy, and Australia.

Sampson is a New York Time’s Best-Selling author of 30 books for young readers, including Chicka, Chicka, 1, 2, 3, Listen to our World, and Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? His latest book, The Story of Ukraine: An Anthem of Glory and Freedom has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. His research interests are Early Literacy, Writing, English as a New Language, Leadership, and Children’s Literature.
