I earned my MFA in fiction writing at the University of Florida, and taught at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida for fifteen years. Presently I teach composition, literature and film at both St. John's and John Jay College. I received the Hurston/Wright Award in 1993, and was a fellow at the Center for Fiction in 2012. My fiction has appeared in The Sun, The Los Angeles Review, Bridge, The Carolina Quarterly and other publications.
