Jeffrey P. Grossmann previously served as Interim Dean of the College of Professional Studies at St. John’s University from January 1, 2015 - June 30th, 2016. Prior to this appointment, Professor Grossmann served as Chair of the Division of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, and Homeland Security, the largest academic unit in the College of Professional Studies. He is the chief architect of the rapidly expanding and highly acclaimed Homeland Security Program and is recognized as one of the leading national authorities in this emerging academic discipline. Professor Grossmann earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. John’s University in 1989 and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center of Touro College in 1993. He is licensed to practice law in New York State. Professor Grossmann serves as a Research Fellow at the Vincentian Center for Church and Society at St. John’s University. He has published numerous articles in the field of Homeland Security Higher Education and has been a keynote speaker at a number of national and international conferences. He has appeared in many news outlets offering opinion on homeland security affairs. In 2014, Professor Grossmann was a featured commentator on The History Channel’s, America’s Book of Secrets. Professor Grossmann is active in many professional endeavors. He has helped develop national standards in security for the Voluntary Private Sector Preparedness Accreditation and Certification Program (PS-PREP) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He served as the 2011-2012 Chairman of the Academic and Training Programs Council for ASIS International, the preeminent 37,000 member professional association in the security field. Since 2010, Professor Grossmann, a Veteran who served in the New York State Army National Guard, has served as a Faculty Evaluator of Military Programs for the American Council on Education. In 2010, Professor Grossmann was appointed to the post ofExecutive National Director of the Order of the Sword & Shield - Omicron Sigma Sigma - the National Honor Society for Homeland Security students. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors for the International Society for Preparedness, Resilience, and Security. Before joining the faculty of St. John’s University in 2007, Professor Grossmann served in senior executive positions in the corporate security divisions at two Fortune 100 companies, including the post of Security Director at Macy’s Herald Square---the world’s largest and arguably most famous department store.
