Jackie M. Winsch Ulrich

Dr. Jacqueline (Jackie) Winsch Ulrich is an Assistant Professor of Childhood Education in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at St. John’s University. A former elementary and middle school teacher, she earned a Ph.D. in Literacy Studies from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and a B.A. and M.Ed from the University of Notre Dame.
Her work as a literacy researcher and teacher educator centers on practitioner inquiry and integrating the arts into elementary literacy classrooms. Her practitioner study, which investigated how two educators collaborated to integrate drama into a second-grade literacy classroom, earned her recognition on the International Literacy Association’s "30 Under 30" list. Dr. Winsch Ulrich's work focuses on the integration of the arts, specifically drama, into elementary literacy classrooms. Her practitioner research investigates how pre-service teachers learn about arts integration pedagogies.
