Dr. Maslak holds the title of Professor in The School of Education at St. John's University. Prior to joining St. John's, she worked as a classroom teacher at the Taipei American School (Taiwan) and public and private schools (K-12) in Pennsylvania and Florida. At St. John's University, Dr. Maslak teaches courses including but limited to the sociology of education and research methods at the postgraduate level and courses related to the society at the undergraduate level. She has been professor-in-charge of the School of Education's Semester Study Abroad Program in Rome (Italy) through 2025. This Program enables New York-based St. John’s University students to study at the University’s Rome campus and participate in fieldwork related to their studies in education. Dr. Maslak has developed a research agenda that focuses on girls' and women's education, with a particular interest in employing both mixed-methodologies and interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks in her work on entrepreneurship and learning. In the last five years, her work has grappled with the complexities of learning and business for both adult women and adolescents. She also has written on the importance of genealogical history in teaching at the secondary school levels. Her books and articles have been published by academic presses and peer-reviewed journals in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.A.. In addition, she was awarded the Fulbright Senior Research Award for her research on Muslim education in China and a Fulbright-Hays fellowship for her work on women, business, and education. Dr. Maslak holds a dual-degree PhD in Comparative & International Education and Curriculum and Instruction, an MEd in Educational Administration from Pennsylvania State University, and a BME and BMT from Shenandoah University (VA).
