Almerinda Forte

Professor
Dr. Almerinda Forte is Chairperson and Professor of Accounting, Management, Fashion Leadership, Ethics, and Sustainability for the Collins College of Professional Studies at St. John’s University. She received her Ph.D. from New York University. Almerinda received her M.B.A. in Finance and B.S. in Accounting from St. John’s University. She also earned a certificate from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Sustainable Design Entrepreneur.

Her most significant research has been in business ethics, corporate social responsibility and leadership in management. She has presented at over forty international academic conferences, such as the International Conference Promoting Business Ethics, the International Business and Economic Research Conference, and the European Applied Business Research Conference among others. Her research has been published in the Business Ethics Journal, The Journal of International Business and Economic Research, The Journal of International Education Research, The Journal of Diversity Management, The International Journal of Management, The International Journal of Management and Information Systems, and chapter four in a book, Contemporary Issues in Business Ethics. Almerinda is also a Vincentian Fellow.

As a Fulbright Scholar at the rank of Senior Specialist she taught Italian students and worked on curriculum at Rome University. Dr. Almerinda Forte is an effective and dedicated educator. She creates a classroom atmosphere that is open, supportive, and flexible. The result is an interactive and enjoyable learning experience for her students. To increase interest in the material, she brings in examples from her years of experience at firms such as Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith and the New York State Society of CPA’s. These personal experiences help her to demonstrate the relevancy of the material covered in class to not only their lives but also to our culture. She has drawn on her outside work experience and her research to discuss good managerial procedures, leadership strategies, how managerial practices affect corporate profits, individual lives, ethical behavior, and corporate social responsibility. Similarly, she explains how stocks, bonds, and investment portfolios impact their lives as well as the national and global economy. She also discusses the future of corporate responsibility and the significance of the unemployment rate and the effects of our national debt on business.
