Dr. Alejandro Hernández De la Lanza is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Analytics and Information Systems at St. John’s University’s Peter J. Tobin College of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Operations Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. His research explores the intersection of operations management, information systems, and business analytics, focusing on the mobile application ecosystem. Dr. Hernández De la Lanza investigates how developers’ decisions on software updates and advertising systems impact user engagement, retention, and monetization, using large-scale clickstream data and natural experiments to inform app performance and platform policies. With prior experience in higher education, consumer goods, and chemical manufacturing, he brings a practical perspective on finance and operations to his academic work, guiding strategies for developers and companies in the dynamic digital economy.
