- Policy 303 - Annual Increase (Merit or Across the Board)
Section: Compensation
Policy Number: 303
Responsible Office: HR/Compensation
Effective Date: 4/1/01
Revised: 10/1/10; 8/31/17; 11/19/18
Scope
This policy applies to full-time and regular part-time administrators and staff who are listed in an active working classification. Employees whose positions are funded by external sources (i.e. grants and contracts) may not be eligible for certain University-funded compensation programs.
Policy
In order to be eligible for an annual increase, an employee must be hired prior to April 1 and must not have received a salary adjustment to his/her base salary on or after June 1. Eligible employees must be listed in an active working classification on the St. John's payroll at the time that the annual increase is paid. If an employee is on leave at the time that an annual increase is paid, the annual increase will be applied on the date the employee returns to work, retroactive to the effective date of the increase. Employees who have resigned, retired, or who have been terminated are ineligible for annual increases. In addition, prorated annual increases will not be made to employees who resign, retire or have terminated during the year. The pool of funds available reflects recent economic conditions, the market, and the University’s performance.
St. John's University reserves the right to modify or cancel any of its award programs at any time, without advance notice. Annual increases are not guaranteed in any year.
