- St. John’s University bestowed degrees on more than 2,100 graduates during its 155th Undergraduate-Level Commencement Exercise on May 18.
- Students from The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies designed and programmed Thunder Paws, a robotic dog that uses artificial intelligence.
- Recent St. John’s graduate Elijah Croom directed and produced a documentary on the construction of the St. Vincent Health Sciences Center. His film earned the overall top prize at the fourth annual Society for Film and Visual Arts Film Festival in May.
- Summer may be approaching, but for those who like to plan ahead, St. John’s Men’s Basketball team will host Alabama on November 8 at Madison Square Garden.

- The St. John’s University community came together to pray for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis at St. Thomas More Church on the Queens, NY, campus.
- The oldest religious sister in the US, St. John’s alumna Sr. Francis Dominici Piscatella ’43Ed, ’53G, turned 112 on April 20.
- First-year computer science major Joshua Peguero presented his research at a national conference in Philadelphia, PA.
- The School of Education has partnered with the Diocese of Brooklyn, NY, to create the Future Catholic School Teacher Scholarship, which awards $10,000 (distributed as $2,500 per year over four years of undergraduate study) to selected students who enroll in a teacher preparation program at St. John’s University.
- Congratulations to the five student-athletes who were inducted into the St. John’s University President’s Society on April 26.

- St. John’s University Libraries received the 2025 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity Award from one of the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publications in higher education.
- On February 22, students from all academic disciplines developed and pitched ideas for sustainable business solutions or start-up enterprises during Johnny’s Innovation Challenge.

- Congratulations to our Men’s Basketball team for having its best regular season in almost four decades! We also applaud Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and Head Coach Rick Pitino, who won his first BIG EAST Coach of the Year Award; RJ Luis Jr., who was named BIG EAST Player of the Year; and Cocaptain Zuby Ejiofor, who was named BIG EAST Most Improved Player.
