Frequently Asked Questions
Full-time Undergraduate Students: Starting in Fall 2025, first-year students may choose to pursue one of four degrees entirely in Manhattan. Degrees include our BS (Bachelor of Science) in Business, International Management (IM), Actuarial Science (Act-Sci) and Risk Management & Insurance (RMI). This cohort will be prioritized for placement in Manhattan classes and the curriculum path will be extended each semester to include all required classes so the entire undergraduate degree can be completed in Manhattan. (These students may attend classes in Queens, but it will not be necessary for degree completion).
Queens-based Undergraduate Students: Any student in our ten Tobin majors has the option to register for Manhattan campus classes if they would like to expand their experience. All undergraduate students in Act-Sci and RMI are required to enroll in some upper-level courses in Manhattan in their junior and senior years. St. John’s University continues to add additional classes on the 101 Astor campus for other majors which expand our Manhattan advantage. (For example, while we did not recruit Finance majors, we now have NYC permission to offer our Finance undergraduate degree in Manhattan).
Graduate Students: Numerous graduate level curriculum programs are offered entirely in Manhattan with other graduate programs offering a hybrid of both campuses.
A New Student Orientation for incoming undergraduate Manhattan cohort students will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 (the day before classes). All full-time Manhattan undergraduate cohort students will be required to attend. The in-person orientation session will begin at 9:30 (registration table open at 9am) and end at 2pm with an optional social function with Queens students. Please look for a registration link and portal to be added to the Orientation Website in June. (There is no parents' orientation program offered on September 2 but there will be a July 23 online session to answer parents' questions.)
We are concentrating all first-year courses on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Those deposited students who have indicated on their application that they intend to be Manhattan-based will be placed in this first-year curriculum.
