Outright Gifts

Give an unrestricted gift towards the Annual Fund to support the University’s most needed priorities such as academic programs, facility enhancements, technological improvements or the University’s General Scholarship Fund. You can also designate a gift to a particular school, college or program.

Credit Card Gifts

Gifts by credit card can be made using our online giving form. We offer various giving options including recurring payments.

Employee Payroll Deduction

In addition to making gifts by check or credit card, St. John’s employees can demonstrate their commitment to St. John’s by making a financial contribution through automatic payroll deduction. Matching Gifts

Many employers will often match charitable gifts made by their current employees, retirees and/or spouses. Some companies will double or even triple your gift! Please contact your company’s personnel office to learn more or click here to see if your employer will match your donation.

Donor Bill of Rights

To ensure your confidence in the St. John’s mission and the causes you support, we declare the following donor rights:

  1. Donations will be used solely to further the mission of the University.
  2. Information from or about a donor will be held in the strictest confidence and shall not be disclosed without the consent of the donor.
  3. Designated donations shall be used for the purposes for which they were given. If conditions do not make this possible, then alternative use(s) will be negotiated with the donor.
  4. Donor will receive a tax receipt for charitable donations.
  5. Donations for events (e.g. ticket sales) will disclose the actual amount of the ticket price that is receiptable as a charitable donation.
  6. All communication with individuals representing the University will be conducted in a professional manner.
  7. The University shall honor any donor’s request not to be contacted with concerning any fundraising activities.
  8. Donors, upon request, are entitled to the following information at no charge: the most recent St. John’s University Annual Report, audited financial statements, and a listing of the Board of Trustees.
  9. Financial reports will be factual and accurate.
  10. Solicitations for donations will be truthful and accurately reflect the mission of the University.
  11. All fundraising activities conducted on behalf of the University by volunteers or staff shall be conducted with fairness and integrity.
  12. Donors will receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
  13. Information about a donor’s gift will be handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
  14. Donors will be encouraged to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.

The Loughlin Society

This is St. John’s leadership giving society, its members contributing gifts totaling $1,000 or more toward any University fund. Recent St. John’s graduates are invited to participate at a reduced giving criteria, beginning at $150, through The Loughlin Society Associates Program.

The McCallen Society

This group consists of donors who have included St. John’s University in their estate plans. Members fulfill their philanthropic goals by securing a future for loved ones and providing much-needed funds to support facilities enhancement, scholarships, advanced technology and innovative academic initiatives.

The Founders Society

Members of this giving society have left an indelible mark on the SJU community, donating cumulative gifts of $1 million or more to the University during the course of their lifetime.
