The Human Resources Policy Manual is a comprehensive guide to St. John’s University’s employment-related policies for staff and administrators. You are encouraged to check online for policy updates frequently.
Annually, the Office of Human Resources (HR) sends supervisors a detailed summary of individual policy changes. Your supervisor was recently notified of these updates. You should not wait for notification to find out about policy changes. As a reminder, you also have access to an Employee Handbook that serves as an employment guide and includes policy summaries.
To search the policy manual on the HR website, either use the Recent Policy Updates tab to find recent updates listed by date of change or use the Alphabetical Listing tab to search policies by title. You can also search by topics using the Table of Contents tab.
Typically, most revisions are made to clarify or update a policy or to comply with the law. Of note, four new policies were introduced since the last annual update: Policy #007 Inclusive Practices and Dismantling Racism (1/17/24); Policy #1038 Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace (5/17/24); Policy #814 Paid Lactation Breaks (6/19/24); and Policy #813 Alcohol at Department Events (8/1/24).
