St. John's students can self-select their residential community, room, or apartment and roommates for the upcoming semester/academic year housing.
To secure housing a student must complete three steps:
When applying for housing, there are five different processes to select from. Please select the one that applies to you.
For newly admitted undergrads, transfer students, and graduate students entering housing for the upcoming academic year.

Submit Spring New or Continuing Housing Selection Deposit
Housing deposits will be accepted starting Monday, October 16, 2018 until 4:30 p.m. (EDT) on Monday November 26, 2018.
To make the online payment, log in to UIS. You can make a credit card deposit over the phone to our customer service center at 718-990-2000.
Mailed checks must be made payable to "St. John's University." Please include the student ID number and "Spring Housing Selection Deposit" in the memo line. Do not mail checks to the Massachusetts address.
Your account will be reviewed for eligibility at the time of receipt by Student Financial Services.

Important Note: Any prior financial obligations to SJU must be satisfied in order for a housing deposit to be accepted. Credits on student accounts from current or past semesters may not be used to satisfy a housing deposit for the Spring 2018 process. Please note that a housing deposit does not guarantee participation in the Housing Selection Process.
Apply and Sign Agreement via Housing Portal
The application may only be submitted online via the SJU Housing Portal. The completed application will be due by 4:30 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, November 29, 2018.
If you have an active Spring 2019 housing deposit, you will receive access to the online housing application. During this step you will be required to complete your Housing Application, Housing Agreement, and Student Profile. The University requires any continuing students to have a 1.95 GPA or higher, enrolled full-time, and pass the student conduct review to participate in the housing selection process.
Important Note: Completion of Steps 1 and 2 does not guarantee a housing selection appointment or a housing assignment. Housing selection appointments and housing assignments are based on available spaces.
Select Your Room, Roommates, and Meal Plan via Housing Portal
On Friday, November 30, 2018, you will receive your Housing Portal Lottery Appointment date and time. You must login to the Housing Portal on your scheduled appointment date and time to review the room search wizard for available spaces, select your room, and choose a meal plan (if applicable). We anticipate selection days to occur the week of December 4, 2018.
Important Note: Community living options are clustered by student classification and compatibility (Freshmen buildings, Sophomore buildings, Junior/Senior buildings, Transfer buildings, Graduate apartments, and Law apartments).
