Cable Television Services

SpectrumU TV is a video streaming service available to resident students  that delivers a wide variety of live TV, entertainment, news and sports programming, including on-demand television shows and movies.

Internet Connections

All suites in the residence halls are equipped with Wireless Access Points to SJUMobile. For assistance, students can visit https://ithelp.stjohns.edu or contact Information Technology at 718-990-5000, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (ET).

Please note that personal routers are prohibited.

Game Consoles

Detailed instructions are available here on connecting an Xbox, PlayStation, and other game consoles to the on-campus WiFi. For technical assistance, students can submit a support request at: https://ithelp.stjohns.edu or contact Information Technology at 718-990-5000.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping is responsible for the cleanliness of the common areas of the building (i.e., hallways, lounges, stairwells, etc.). Residents are responsible for the cleaning of their own rooms/suites/bathrooms. If there are concerns about cleanliness of the residence hall, please notify a Residence Life staff member.

Laundry and Vending Machines

Washers and dryers are located in the basement of each residence hall (with the exception of Goethals) and are free of charge. Any washer/dryer malfunctions should be reported directly to the company. Contact ASI at 1-800-734-8851, or visit http://servicerequest.coinmach.com/ or install the CSC Service Works Request App.

When making a call, please note:

• Location of machine (residence hall name)
• Machine number
• Brief description of the problem, if known

Vending machines are also located in select locations of each residence hall on the Queens campus.

Mail Services

All mail is delivered to the University Mailroom in the ROTC Building by Gate 6:

Please note, most deliveries arrive after 10:00am.

Residential Mailing Addresses are listed here.

Mail services are not offered over the summer months. It is the student’s responsibility to forward all mail to a permanent address to obtain personal mail because mail will not be held. Students are encouraged to track all of their packages to ensure safe and proper delivery.

Things to Remember

If you are expecting an important delivery, e.g., passport, social security card, birth certificate, we suggest that you request the item be sent with some type of tracking. The tracking could be:

· United States Post Office (USPS) Certified

· FedEx

· UPS

· DHL

Once the sender obtains the tracking information please request they take a photo of the tracking number and send it to you. The reason for this is, if your item did not arrive, the staff of the University Mailroom would be able to track your item and will inform you of the status.

Maintenance

The University provides maintenance and repair services in the residence halls.Maintenance Request Forms must be completed online via the Facilities Work Order Request.

After office hours, emergency maintenance problems should be referred immediately to the resident assistant on duty. Emergency maintenance problems are only those issues that affect health and safety and must be attended to immediately (i.e., stopped-up toilet and no other toilet available, jammed locks, etc.). Furniture will not be removed from student rooms.

Parking

Residents must purchase a Resident Parking Permit from Public Safety to legally park on campus ($500). Freshmen residents may not purchase parking permits on the Queens campus. Stickers are very limited and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis per published dates based on class status and none are permitted for freshmen residents. Overnight guests must obtain a temporary parking pass at the Public Safety Office and the resident host will be charged $10.

Security

Each residence hall is staffed by a desk guard or Resident Safety Monitor 24 hours a day (except Founder’s Village, Goethals, and DePaul). The desk guard is stationed in the lobby of each building and monitors and maintains the integrity of the hall security. Resident students must scan their StormCard at the desk to be permitted into the building.
