September 2, 2025

The School of Education welcomed an excited group of incoming graduate students at an orientation meet and greet on August 27.

The feedback and energy were incredibly positive. Students were excited to join our diverse and vibrant learning community that helps to shape future generations by imparting knowledge and fostering critical thinking.

“It was a pleasure to meet and engage with classmates and the administration,” said Mark D. Clarke, who is working toward a doctorate in Administration and Supervision. “I look forward to the upcoming school year and am proud to be a Johnnie!”

Eleni Plevritis, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student shared the following sentiment, “It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know some of my classmates and break the ice while settling into this exciting new chapter.”

In addition, Sonali Dutt, an Adolescence Education - Career Change student, said “I had a wonderful experience as a new student at St. John’s. The professors and current students welcomed me with open arms, chatting up a storm about programs, connections, and classes. This orientation eased my nervousness and now I am excited for the first day!”

"Students are the lifeblood of any university,” said James D. Wolfinger, Ph.D., Dean, The School of Education. “They always bring energy and an inquisitiveness that make St. John’s lively. As always, we are excited to have them join us and we can’t wait to start the new year.”

“The start of the school year brings renewed hope, opportunity, and promise. It was a pleasure to welcome the incoming group of graduate students to The School of Education. The School looks forward to supporting our newest Johnnies as they work to achieve their academic goals and aspirations,” said Donald R. McClure, Ph.D., Associate Dean, Faculty Development & Student Experience.

We warmly welcome all our new students and encourage them to embrace this exciting new semester with open arms! Their journey begins now, and we wish them an inspiring and fulfilling experience ahead.
