As an active member of the New York Student Aid Alliance —a coalition of colleges and universities and other stakeholder organizations that support funding vital student aid programs in New York—St. John’s University will join in the upcoming Student Advocacy Days. Scheduled for Tuesday, February 1, and Wednesday, February 2, this year’s student advocacy programming will be held remotely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and visitor restrictions at the New York State (NYS) Capitol.
The University’s Office of Government Relations will help prepare student advocates to discuss the importance of New York State student aid programs with members of the NYS Legislature and to share their personal stories about how these programs profoundly shape their educational experiences for the better. The Student Advocacy programming is targeted at students who are New York State residents and benefit from New York State financial aid programs.
To participate in the Virtual Student Advocacy Days, please register in advance.
On February 1 and 2, all students and friends of higher education in New York are encouraged to show their support for student aid programs and to share stories on social media about the personal impact of student aid and opportunity programs by using the hashtags #StandUp4StudentAid or #turnonthetapNY.
The New York Student Aid Alliance supports funding vital student aid programs for students in New York State. The alliance works to secure and enhance funding for students in pivotal programs, such as the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program, Higher Education Opportunity Program, Liberty Partnerships Program, Tuition Assistance Program, and many more.
