Hallow, the world’s number one prayer and meditation app, has recently partnered with St. John’s University and the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentians) to provide the University with premium prayer content that helps deepen spiritual lives during the season of Lent and beyond.
This partnership is supported by a substantial grant from the Congregation of the Mission Eastern Province St. Vincent Grant Program as part of a mission-driven “spiritual wellness initiative.” St. John's has signed an agreement to become a partner school with Hallow.
To coincide with the start of Lent, St. John’s is partnering with Hallow to offer 500 members of the campus community free premium access to Hallow's extensive audio library of Catholic meditation and prayer. This also includes custom online communities for the campus.
“There’s never a wrong time to grow in your faith, and Lent is an especially meaningful season for students to reconnect with what matters most,” said Victoria Santangelo, Associate Vice President for University Mission and Ministry. “With classes, practices, internships, work, family obligations, and social commitments filling their schedules, college students need prayer that fits into real life. The free version of the Hallow app offers accessible, guided prayers that students can use between classes or at the end of a long day, and they can visit the website to explore everything the platform has to offer.”
Hallow combines the peace and stillness of meditation with the spiritual growth of contemplative prayer. It offers audio-guided prayers, sleep meditations, Bible readings, and music.
“As a user of Hallow, I know firsthand how this app and its resources can help busy people find stillness and a quiet place for prayer, ultimately bringing them closer to Jesus Christ,” said Andrea Pinnavaia, Director of Campus Ministry for Liturgy, Faith Formation, and Mission Communications.
On Ash Wednesday in 2026, the app achieved an incredible milestone by reaching the top spot on Apple’s list of most downloaded apps. Hallow features over 10,000 audio-guided prayer sessions led by familiar voices such as Jonathan Roumie, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Bishop Barron, Mark Wahlberg, Sr. Miriam James, and many others.
“I’ve seen how this app can help students step away from the constant noise of notifications and deadlines to find stillness,” Ms. Santangelo added. “It creates space for them to encounter Jesus Christ in a personal way, especially during such a formative time in their lives.”
