Government Relations

Responsible citizenship is valuable part of the mission and heritage of St. John’s University.  To better achieve that goal, the Office of Government Relations is responsible for advancing the University’s legislative interests at all levels of local, state and federal government.  In City Hall, Albany and Washington DC, the Office of Government Relations works with lawmakers and government agencies on public policy issues to advance access and opportunities in higher education.

The Office of Government Relations coordinates the University’s legislative agenda through personal and direct contact with elected officials and their staff as well as through active participation in state and national educational organizations (CICU – Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities & NAICU – National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities).

The Office of Government Relations regularly provides legislative advocacy and awareness to the University administration and community regarding pertinent government issues and initiatives affecting the University and higher education.  The Office of Government Relations advocates on behalf of the University: its students, faculty and staff.
