The St. John’s University Office of Marketing and Communications recently garnered a 2019 Telly Award. The Bronze Award was earned for a promotional video in the category, “Regional TV: Schools, Colleges and Universities.”
St. John’s University earned the award for the promotional video, “We Are New York’s Team.” The 30-second television commercial created by the digital team aired throughout the 2018–19 Men’s Basketball season and was regularly featured during the St. John’s broadcasts of BIG EAST games. Through video images and narration, the commercial describes the nearly 150-year-old history of St. John’s, its enduring Catholic and Vincentian mission, and proud connection to New York City.
“External accolades like this Telly Award are noteworthy achievements and highlight the creative talent found here at St. John’s,” stated Christian P. Vaupel, Ed.D., Vice President for Advancement and University Relations.
The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring video and television across all screens. Established in 1979, The Telly Awards received more than 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents.
Winners are selected for recognition based on excellence in the following areas: Branded Content, Commercials & Marketing, Non-Broadcast, Series/Shows/Segments, and Social Video.
“This award-winning commercial was a fun project to work on and allowed our digital team the opportunity to tell the St. John’s story to a wider audience,” remarked Brian Browne, Executive Director of University Relations.
