Shweta Dilip Singh Sinha became the first Ph.D. candidate in the Ph.D. in Multi-Sector Communication program offered in The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies to earn a doctorate after successfully defending her dissertation on October 20.
“The Institute for International Communication recognizes this monumental moment, one that is a testament to scholars like Dr. Sinha who embody hard work, perseverance, and an unparalleled passion for learning that pushes boundaries and encourages the advancement of society,” said Basilio G. Monteiro, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Division of Mass Communication, and Director, Graduate Program in International Communication.
Dr. Sinha earned a master’s degree in Genetic Medicine from the University of Sheffield, UK (2005), and an M.B.A. from the Institue of Management Technology - Nagpur, India (2010), India. She has more than a decade of experience working as a branding, business, and advertising consultant.
“In her research, Dr. Sinha offered insight and a fresh perspective on the intersection of environment and feminism, addressing societal gender disparity through an ecofeminist lens,” added Tiffany L. Mohr, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator, B.S. in Public Relations program.

Dr. Shweta Dilip Singh Sinha is an Indian scholar with a Master’s Degree in Genetic Medicine from the University of Sheffield, UK, an MBA from India, and over a decade’s experience working as a Branding, Business, and Advertising consultant. She was recently awarded her PhD in Multi-Sector Communication from St. John’s University.
