Sungwon Kim, Ph.D Studies the Risk of Concussion Among Young Soccer Athletes

Sungwon Kim, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Division of Sport Management at The Collins College of Professional Studies recently wrote an article titled “Youth Soccer Parents’ Attitudes and Perceptions about Concussions” which was published in the Journal of Adolescent Health (5-Year Impact Factor: 5.189). This study investigated youth soccer parents’ attitudes and perceptions about concussions as they play an important role in reducing and managing youth concussions. Given the popularity of soccer and the prevalence of risk associated with concussions among youth soccer athletes, the results of this study showed that youth soccer parents have high appreciation and perceived risk about concussions. Findings from this study can inform policy makers and public health practitioners to improve concussion-related educational intervention.
