As high school students and adult learners increasingly rely on the Internet to explore higher education opportunities, St. John’s University has earned recognition for the quality of its online communications efforts.
In October 2016, St. John’s Office of Marketing and Communications won three W3 Awards for excellence in web content. The awards, sponsored by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (IAVA), honor outstanding websites, web marketing, videos, mobile sites/apps, and social content. Approximately 5,000 entries were considered for the honors, representing for- and not-for-profit organizations in more than 300 categories.
The University won silver awards in the following areas: General Website Categories (School/University), Social Content and Marketing Culture and Lifestyle, and Branded Video Content (Not-for-Profit).
Fr. Bernard M. Tracey, C.M, Executive Vice President for Mission and Interim Vice President for Advancement and University Relations, observed, “This external recognition received by the Office of Marketing and Communications is a tribute to the creative and committed members of the Office and is a testimony to the talents of the entire team.”
“We were once again blown away at the creativity and quality of this year’s entrants,” observed Linda Day, Director of the IAVA, an international assembly of top-tier professionals from media, advertising, and marketing firms. “As our connected world continues to expand in new and exciting ways, our winners are a true testament to the power of web creativity around the globe.”
She added, “On behalf of the over 750 members of the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, we salute the talents and high level of execution our winners display, and we commend all of this year’s entrants for their dedication and commitment to online excellence.”
