St. John's Ranks Among Top-40 Universities for Study Abroad Participation

January 19, 2016

The Institute of International Education (IIE) has named St. John’s among the top-40 doctorate-granting American universities with the greatest proportions of undergraduates participating in study abroad programs.

St. John’s was included in the list of some of the nation’s leading schools, with 676 students, more than 34 percent of the entire undergraduate class, participating in at least one of over 25 study abroad opportunities offered during the 2013–14 academic year.

Our study abroad programs have grown in leaps and bounds since their inception 30 years ago, and we are honored to be among the elite in this category”
- Robert A. Mangione, Ed.D., R.Ph., Provost.

Additionally, the IIE awarded Gillman Scholarships to three St. John’s students for the spring semester. The award offers grants for US undergraduates who are of limited financial means, allowing them to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad.
