Transportation Options

We encourage everyone commuting to campus via buses, personal vehicles, ride sharing, and paratransit services, to review the CDC guidelines and protect yourself when using public transportation.

Public Safety Shuttle Van

Public Safety will begin operation for the Spring 2023 semester on Wednesday, January 18 at 6:45 a.m. beginning its loop at the LIRR Jamaica Station.

The Public Safety shuttle van will run from 6:45 a.m. to 3 a.m., Monday through Friday (when classes are in session) and 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The shuttle van will do a continuous loop, starting at the LIRR Jamaica Station and picking up/dropping off at the following locations:

  • LIRR Jamaica Station(pickup/drop off at 146 St./Archer Ave.)
  • F Train-Homelawn Street/Hillside Avenue(side of Estates Pharmacy)
  • Henley Road Residence(Highland Ave side of building)
  • Gate 1(stop sign across from Public Safety booth)
  • Public Safety/ROTC Building(please wait in lobby)
  • Seton Complex (front of building)
  • DePaul Houses(front of houses)

The following rules shall apply:

  • Shuttle is reserved for St. John’s students, faculty, and staff only; all persons will be required to display their StormCard.
  • No eating of food; drinks with lids or covers are permitted.
  • No smoking or vaping.
  • No stops other than listed above.
  • No inappropriate language.
  • LIRR Jamaica Station: Pickup/drop-off is by request only. Please call Public Safety at 718-990-5252 upon arrival at station.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Shuttle will start at Public Safety/ROTC building.
  • The last shuttle loop will begin at Gate 1 at 2:15 a.m.

Public Transportation

For students seeking transportation options to the Queens campus:

  • Q46 bus run to/from DePaul and Seton to Gate 4
  • Q30 and Q31 buses run to/from Jamaica Station to Gate 1, stopping at the corner of Homeland St and Henley Rd, accommodating students living in the Henley Rd Complex

For students seeking transportation options to the Staten Island campus:

  • S66 run to/from the Staten Island campus to the Staten Island Ferry.

For students seeking transportation options to/from the Queens and Manhattan campuses:

  • Q46 bus to E Train (Kew Gardens - Union Tpke), transfer at Lexington Av/53 St to the 6 Train (51 St) to Astor Pl.
  • Walk to the F Train (169 St), transfer at Broadway-Lafayette St to the 6 Train (Bleecker St) to Astor Pl.
