Professor Yevgenia Nayberg wins Sydney Taylor Silver Medal

The College of Professional Studies is pleased to announce that Professor Yevgenia Nayberg, Adjunct Associate Professor, Division of Mass Communication, has won the Sydney Taylor Silver Medal for Young Readers for her illustration work in the book Drop by Drop: A Story of Rabbi Akiva.

Yevgenia Nayberg was born in Kiev, Ukraine. After graduating from The National School of Art in Kiev, she began working as a freelance illustrator and an assistant art director for, UkranimaFilm, an animation studio. Yevgenia moved to the United States in 1994, where she studied theatre design at Carnegie Mellon University. At the age of 23 she received her MFA degree in Theatre Design from California State University, Long Beach. She has since enjoyed a successful career as a painter, scenic - costume designer, illustrator and adjunct professor of mass communications.

St. John’s University will hold its Undergraduate-Level Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 18, at 10 a.m. on the Great Lawn. The Most Reverend Richard G. Henning, S.T.D., D.D. ’86SJC, ’88M.A., Archbishop of Boston, MA, will serve as this year’s speaker and be conferred an honorary degree during the ceremony.
