Recognized for their professional flexibility and academic excellence, St. John’s University’s online Master of Science (M.S.) business programs, offered at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, saw an impressive improvement in U.S. News & World Report’s newly released rankings.
U.S. News’ “Best Online Master’s in Business Programs” ranked Tobin’s M.S. programs 39th nationally from among more than 200 evaluated non-M.B.A. programs, an improvement of 13 places from 2024. Tobin’s online Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) programs ranked 46th among more than 350 schools.
“Our continued ranking among the top 50 of online graduate programs reflects the incredible efforts on the part of our faculty to create a transformative educational experience for our M.S. and M.B.A degree students,” said Maciek Nowak, Ph.D. Dean and Joseph H. and Maria C. Schwartz Distinguished Chair at Tobin. “These rankings also reflect the growing breadth of career outcomes for the graduates of these programs.”
In addition to its 36-credit M.B.A. programs, Tobin offers 10 Master of Science degree programs, including seven available online. These include graduate programs in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Enterprise Risk Management, and Taxation.
Tobin offers 17 M.B.A. concentrations online. The more independent structure of the programs enables students to continue full-time careers while pursuing their degrees.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the 2025 rankings evaluated business graduate programs based on their degree of student engagement, peer assessments, faculty credentials, student excellence, and services and technologies available. A degree program's score for each indicator is calculated using data the program reported to U.S. News, and from data collected in a separate peer survey.
Schools such as Tobin, with M.B.A. and M.S. online business programs, were ranked in both categories, but were evaluated separately.
Using similar indicators, US News also ranked The School of Education at St. John’s in the top half of more than 300 online Master’s in Education programs.
