Ceceilia Parnther, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership, The School of Education, was awarded the Faculty Excellence in Student Engagement Award at the Faculty Convocation held in Carnesecca Arena on the Queens, NY, campus on August 30.
“Eventually, I found my voice because someone saw me and believed I could speak up,” Dr. Parnther said during her speech at the annual event held to introduce and welcome new and visiting faculty members to the University community and recognize faculty emeriti, newly tenured, and promoted faculty.
She continued, “Convocation remains a symbolic reminder that we belong to something larger than ourselves at St. John’s, that our commitment to student success is a promise and responsibility—and most importantly, that our community is better with you here,”
Dr. Parnther also serves as a Doctoral Program Coordinator and a Faculty in Residence. She is a former student affairs administrator with more than 12 years of experience delivering theory and research practical applications to the classroom.
Dr. Parnther regularly engages with staff and administrators in her research and teaching by focusing on equity and access. She recently coedited the book, Voices from Women Leaders on Success in Higher Education: Pipelines, Pathways, and Promotion with Barbara Cozza, Ph.D., Chair and Professor, Administrative and Instructional Leadership.
“The School of Education is delighted to celebrate this achievement with Dr. Parnther and remains steadfast in its commitment to providing an education that elevates,” said James D. Wolfinger, Ph.D., Dean.
