Newly accepted first-year students in The School of Education were given the opportunity to meet their classmates and learn about the many opportunities available at St. John’s University for pursuing a degree in the education field and in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at a “mingle, paint, chat, and learn” information session on July 26.
“This event, part of Summer at St. John’s: Explore and More, was designed to get students excited about their opportunities as they begin their studies at St. John’s,” said James D. Wolfinger, Ph.D., Dean, The School of Education.
The session was facilitated by Dominick Palma, Ph.D., Superintendent, Merrick Union Free School District, and Shruti Deshpande, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, St. John’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. They provided insight on what students can expect if they seek employment as an educator in a school district on Long Island, NY.
