On April 17th, 2018, St. John’s students competed with Wagner College and College of Staten Island students in the 2018 Entrepreneurial Competition held at the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation Business Conference at the Hilton Garden Inn. Representing St. John’s were three students who authored business plans.
The first place winner was Zachary Savino, (Tobin senior management major). Mr. Savino won a prize of $500 for his business Sibyl Systems which is a novel out of home ad serving business that was beta tested in the New York market and currently is seeking further development funds. Also presenting for St. John’s were Zachary Piracha , '17PharmD, who developed a business service and application, RePill, that supports healthful choices in the management of pharmacy prescriptions. The final presenter from St. John’s University was Sydney Fucci '18TCB Marketing major. Ms. Fucci presented HomeMade Health and her business that supports vegan cooking and a custom written cookbook.
All three St. John’s students competed in the recent 2018 James and Eileen Business Plan Competition on April 6, where they earned the top three prizes. Dr. William Reisel attended and noted, “I am very proud of our St. John’s entrepreneurs who showed it is never too early to think big.”
