In an effort to maintain a strong educational presence on Long Island, St. John’s University has leased 11,000 square feet of space for its new Long Island Graduate Center in Hauppauge, NY. The Suffolk County site replaces St. John’s former Oakdale campus.
The new location allows the University to serve students enrolled in graduate programs through The School of Education and St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Long Island Graduate Center features six state-of-the-art classrooms, video-equipped conference rooms for an interactive learning experience, offices for full-time faculty based on-site, student gathering spaces, and space for special events hosted by the University and its community partners.
Commencing in July 2017, The School of Education will offer two doctoral programs, nine advanced certificate programs, and 10 master’s degree programs on the campus. Degree offerings from St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will be announced shortly.
Thomas P. Dolan, Ed.D., will serve as Director of the Center. Dr. Dolan brings 40 years of experience in teaching and educational administration to the position, having served as Superintendent of school districts in Great Neck and Franklin Square, NY. He also was interim President of Nassau Community College in the 2015–16 academic year.
“Access to a graduate education degree program from St. John’s University has always been critically important and highly attractive to prekindergarten through grade 12 and higher practitioners here on Long Island,” said Dr. Dolan. “All of St. John’s graduate programs are known for their outstanding faculty and quality instruction. I am pleased to now be part of the St. John’s team and provide educational services to my former colleagues on Long Island.”
