Promotion!
Elizabeth (Liz) Ciabocchi, Ed.D., Vice Provost for Digital Learning, announced the promotion of Paul Desmarais, M.E.T., from Senior Instructional Designer/Project Manager to Associate Director of Online Learning & Services. Ciabocchi noted, “Paul will manage the day-to-day operation of the Office of Online Learning & Services and, using best practices for online education, administer the development and revision of online and hybrid courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels across the University. He will continue to play a lead role in the development and instruction of professional development workshops and courses in online pedagogy, including the Online Teaching Essentials (OTE) and Advanced Online Teaching Strategies (AOTS) courses offered by the department, as well as other online learning workshops sponsored by the Center for Teaching & Learning. Additionally, Paul will continue to manage the instructional design team, media developers, administrative staff and student workers in the Office of Online Learning & Services.”
Online Learning & Services Staff Members Coauthor Article!
Manouchkathe Cassagnol, Associate Clinical Professor, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, had an article published (March 2017) online in IATED Digital Library. Along with John Conry, Assistant Dean and Clinical Professor, three staff members of Online Learning & Services were coauthors - Yi Zhang, Gina Robinson and Paul Desmarais. The title of the article is: “Student Perception of Technology Usability Within a Co-Curricular Training Program,” and appeared in INTED 2017 which contained the proceedings of the 11th International Technology, Education and Development Conference held in Valencia, Spain, March 6-8, 2017.
The article shares details about the Changing Faces of Pharmacy: Student Enrichment Program which is now in progress with student volunteers from the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. It is an online program designed to teach them how to mentor. Presently, there are 12 students participating in the program.

St. John’s University Announces Commencement 2026 Honorees
St. John’s University will hold its Undergraduate-Level Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 18, at 10 a.m. on the Great Lawn. The Most Reverend Richard G. Henning, S.T.D., D.D. ’86SJC, ’88M.A., Archbishop of Boston, MA, will serve as this year’s speaker and be conferred an honorary degree during the ceremony.
