Accepted Student Day Events Draw Record Attendance

The value of a St. John’s education continues to attract high school students and their families, as indicated by the large numbers of guests attending the University’s Accepted Student Day events in April.

Held on Saturday, April 9, at the Queens campus and Saturday, April 16, at Staten Island, the two events drew a record number of participants. Current undergraduates joined faculty and administrators in offering guests a warm reception.

“Our number one priority is the success of our students,” said Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., President, who welcomed prospective students at both events. Describing the educational advantages of the University’s cosmopolitan environment, Dr. Gempesaw noted that U.S. News & World Report ranks St. John’s as the nation’s second most diverse campus.

Other speakers included administrators and students. “If you’re looking for a University that will challenge you, encourage you, push you—and provide ample opportunities to reach beyond your greatest imaginings—St. John’s is for you,” Brooke Pearson ’17CPS, an Ozanam Scholar, told the guests.

At Staten Island, student speaker Valentina Gioffre ’17CPS, an Ozanam Scholar and President’s Society member, said, “The St. John’s community is one that wants the best for you, and wants you to succeed. We’re truly a close-knit family—and by being here, you’re already a part of it.”
