Continuing his rise among the golf world’s brightest stars, Keegan Bradley ’08CPS secured an automatic berth on the U.S. team for the 2012 Ryder Cup, which takes place on September 28 – 30 at the Medinah Country Club, IL.
The 25-year-old St. John’s graduate is among eight golfers selected for top spots on the team. The roster was finalized when a two-year, point-earning period ended upon the conclusion of the 94th PGA Championship on August 12.
In his Ryder Cup debut, Bradley is playing alongside golf luminaries including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar. U.S. captain Davis Love III completed the 2012 team with his four “captain’s picks” on September 4.
“The Ryder Cup means everything,” Bradley said after his selection. He all but assured himself a spot when he earned a victory over Jim Furyk at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on August 2 – 5. At this year’s PGA Championship in August, he was runner-up to Woods among the top-eight U.S. finishers. Bradley was the PGA Champion in 2011.
On August 22, Bradley took time to meet with 50 St. John’s alumni and fans at a reception organized by the University’s Red White Club. As a member of the Red Storm golf team from 2004 – 2007, he won nine collegiate events and was voted team MVP in his final year.
The Vermont native majored in Sport Management at the University. He is the son of PGA Professional Mark Bradley and nephew of LPGA legend and World Golf Hall of Fame member Pat Bradley.
