The FOX U Project
This past year our Sport Management program had the opportunity to work with Fox Sports University (Fox U). Fox U “is a program that Fox Sports developed with prestigious academic and athletic institutions around the country…Each class partners with a Fox Sports Media Group business to address a marketing, research, technology or strategy challenge that the business faces. Students team up to create real-world solutions, products, and campaigns to address the business challenge” (Fox Sports University).
Marketing and advertising students make their pitch
For the last two semesters, 10 students from the Peter J. Tobin College of Business and 12 from the College of Professional Studies developed a complete advertising and marketing communication plan for Tai Pei Frozen Meals and Appetizers for their upper-level marketing course, in preparation for a year-end face off against similar programs from around the country.
Three Tobin ROTC Cadets Recognized at Annual Awards Ceremony
Peter J. Tobin College of Business students Elena Rudy, Nathan Woodcock and Nicholas VanSlyke of the St. John’s University chapter of the Reserve Officers Training Corps were honored for their leadership and service at the Red Storm Battalion Awards Ceremony on April 5.
The American Italian Sociohistorical Association Presents: The American Italian Second St. Joseph’s Day Celebration Program Conference Series
The American Italian Sociohistorical Association held its 2nd St. Joseph’s Day Celebration Program Conference Series on Tuesday, April 4th. The conference presented research papers, art, history, and literature all pertaining to Italian American Society and Culture. The event was hosted by CPS Professor and Conference Chair, Dr. Louis Gesualdi, and included professionals from universities and colleges as well as speakers from the Italian American community who all have expertise in Italian American Studies.
15th Annual Communications Connection a Success
St. John’s University’s Staten Island campus held its 15th Annual Communications Connection on Tuesday, March 21. All Mass Communication majors were invited to attend an evening filled with networking opportunities, and to build connections through St. John’s alumni.
Scholars Engaging in Academic Discourse at Consumer Identities & Digital Culture Symposium
On March 28, 2017, the Institute for International Communication and the Division of Mass Communication at St. John’s University hosted an academic symposium on “Consumer Identities & Digital Culture”. The symposium gathered scholars across disciplines to examine notions of identity in consumer culture. Speakers presented a range of research from historical perspectives to industry practices, from policy questions to race, gender and global diversity, across film, television and social media.
CPS host Cyber Security and Homeland Security Conference on Manhattan Campus
On March 6, The College of Professional Studies hosted its first ever conference on Homeland Security and Cyber Security titled: “Using Scenario Building and Simulation Technologies for Educating Next Generation Homeland Security and Cyber Security Professionals”.
