For the fourth time in program history, the St. John's women's soccer team is heading to the NCAA Tournament. The Red Storm and Brown will kick off on Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. in the opening round at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
"This group really deserved to be in the NCAA Tournament," said Head Coach Ian Stone. "To me, we have been playing so well and maybe some of our best soccer, but there is just so much talent and depth in this group that I actually think we haven't seen the best of it yet."
The Red Storm returns to the NCAA field of 64 for the first time since 2015. That year, the Johnnies played host to Boston University.
St. John's is one of five BIG EAST programs to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament field, as Georgetown, Xavier, Providence, and Butler will all compete for a chance at the title. This marks the first time since 2010 that the league has seen five different teams earn bids.
St. John's earned its NCAA berth on the heels of a stellar 2021 campaign. The Johnnies enter the tournament with a record of 12-6-2, the team's highest overall win total since 2015. That year, the Johnnies finished with a program-best 15 victories and were named the conference regular-season champions.
The Red Storm has been led offensively this season by BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year Zsani Kajan. The Budapest, Hungary, native tallied 17 goals through 20 games to lead the BIG EAST and sit second overall in the country.
First-round action will be played November 12-14, while the second/third-rounds will be held November 19 and 21, with the quarterfinals on November 26 or 27. The 40th annual NCAA Women's College Cup will be played Dec. 3 and 5 at Stevens Stadium in Santa Clara, California, with Santa Clara University, the West Coast Conference, and the San Jose Sports Authority all serving as hosts.
