Veteran Alumnus Used Military Skills to Achieve Success at St. John’s
Michael Andrew Hall ’14CPS, ’15GCPS, enrolled in St. John’s University after serving his country for more than six years in the US Army, including combat deployments to Iraq, from 2006 to 2007, and to Afghanistan, from 2009 to 2010.

Mr. Hall brought those skills with him when he completed his military service and enrolled at St. John’s to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice on the Queens, NY, campus from the University’s College of Professional Studies, now known as The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies. He also earned a Master of Professional Studies degree in Criminal Justice Leadership at the University.

Frank Viola’s favorite baseball memory is of a game he pitched for St. John’s University during the 1981 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Northwest Regional Tournament against future New York Mets teammate Ron Darling—often dubbed the “Greatest College Baseball Game Ever Played.”
