Course Reserves
The library will automatically add one copy of each faculty member's required textbooks to the library course reserves collection, with the exception of statutory supplements. To see the materials we have placed on course reserve for you, go to the library catalog and click the Course Reserves link. Simply search using your last name. You will see the courses you are scheduled to teach and can review each one for the items we have placed on reserve.
If you wish to place additional materials on course reserve, including personal copies of your textbook, please contact the Circulation Desk for assistance.
Interlibrary Loan
Please see the Interlibrary Loan Guide for a complete guide to the policies and procedures related to ILL services. For library users who already have an ILL account, you may log in to Tipasa.
Interlibrary loan materials will be held for you at the library Circulation Desk following their arrival, and you will be asked to sign for the resources before checking them out. If you have questions regarding Interlibrary Loan, please contact the Circulation Desk for assistance.
Law Exam Archive
At the end of each semester, the Law School Registrar will contact all faculty members who taught during the semester to ask if they wish to add exams to the archive for future student review. The library maintains the electronic exam archive, which is available only to St. John's Law students and requires a password for access. Please contact the Circulation Desk to request the password for access and to add or remove exams from the archive.
OverDrive Audiobook Collection: Anti-Racism & Racial Justice
This audiobook collection consists of both non-fiction and fiction titles selected primarily by the faculty and librarians. This collection supports our continued efforts to be an anti-racist law school and to raise awareness in our community about racial justice issues. The collection is available to all law employees and students. To log in to the OverDrive platform, use your St. John's University email address and your X number (with a capital X).
Web Course Resources (TWEN and Canvas)
The Law School is actively moving away from the use of TWEN toward the use of the Canvas web course platform. Canvas support is provided by the university's Academic Technology department. For courses not yet fully transitioned to Canvas, the Law Library provides support for TWEN by assisting with the upload of course syllabi or reading materials. While we will provide basic support for your use of the system, we are unable to manage your TWEN page throughout the semester. For assistance with TWEN, please contact Amber Clarke or Courtney Selby.
University Library Resources
The University Library and Law Library have separate catalogs and separate database lists. In order to see all the resources available for your use, you will need to look both at the Law Library's collections and the University Library's resources. From the University Library's home page, you can access the catalog, database list, online journals, and e-book collection.
Faculty members who wish to check out material from the University Library are welcome to visit the library or to request that we retrieve the material on your behalf and hold it at the Circulation Desk for you to pick up. Materials may also be delivered directly to your office. Please contact the Circulation Desk for assistance.
