Pathways to the New York Bar
St. John’s TLP and USLS LL.M. programs can prepare you to take the New York State Bar Exam and provide additional support through the Bar Exam Support program. We’ll customize a program of study to meet your needs and to maximize your chances for bar passage.

Our Programs
Bankruptcy LL.M.
For attorneys who want to deepen the knowledge and skills in this dynamic practice area, we offer the nation's only LL.M. program in Bankruptcy Law. Students take specialized bankruptcy courses taught by renowned leaders in the field. Our graduates practice with top firms and clerk for influential judges nationwide. The program also includes the country’s leading bankruptcy journal, the national bankruptcy moot court competition, and the national bankruptcy mediation training program.
Transnational Legal Practice LL.M.
For attorneys who plan to practice transnational, cross-border, or international law, likely in their home countries, and who want to bring a strong knowledge of U.S. law and transnational law to their practice. This program is well suited for attorneys who want to serve as liaisons between practitioners in their home country and the U.S. attorneys they do business with.
U.S. Legal Studies LL.M.
For attorneys who want to specialize in U.S. law, and likely spend most of their careers practicing U.S. Law in the United States (typically in New York).
Real Estate LL.M.
Located in Queens, New York, one of the most diverse places in the world and one of the five boroughs of New York City, the global epicenter of real estate development, investment and finance, St. John’s provides the perfect launching pad for a career practicing real estate law.
English for American Law School
The best predictor of bar passage for foreign-trained attorneys is Legal English proficiency and our courses are led by law professors who have experience teaching English. For students with developing English skills and basic knowledge of U.S. law, we offer a legal English program as well as English for American Law School, an intensive four-week summer course.
