Student Services
Office of the Dean for Students
As you settle into your new learning environment and routine, we promise—you're not alone. The Law School’s faculty, administration, and staff understand the challenges you’re facing, and we’re here to support you.
Many of you have reached out about remote learning and wellness resources available to students. We have compiled a list of resources at our Online Student Center that we hope you’ll find useful. We'll update the list as we have more resources to share.
We look forward to continuing to work with you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] if we can be of help.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The Office of Student Financial Services is committed to providing students and their families with the information they need to navigate and understand the financial aid and payment process.

Career Development
You can create your own career path by taking advantage of the Law School's resources. Since not all law students know what type of law they want to practice, we provide many opportunities for you to explore and identify your particular interests in the law.

Health and Wellness
Need any extra support coping with a personal or emotional issue? Our staff is here to help.

Disability Services
Our goal is to aid students with permanent and temporary disabilities in gaining access to the educational possibilities at St. John’s University.

International Student Services
The International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSSO) is the first resource to contact whenever you need assistance or information during your stay in the United States and at St. John’s University. We are here to help; think of us as your “home away from home.”

Housing
The School of Law is located in a quiet, safe, inexpensive and suburban neighborhood in Queens, about 12 miles from Manhattan. St. John’s understands that many incoming students will need to relocate to the area, and we would like to provide you with the information to make this transition as smoothly as possible.

Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry welcomes students of all religious traditions, while at the same time encouraging our Catholic students to deepen their Catholic identity and to become active participants.
Message from the Office of the Dean of Students
From the moment you arrive on campus for Orientation to the moment you walk across the stage at Commencement, the Law Student Services Department is here to support you.
Our office oversees student life and well-being at the Law School. We offer academic advising and personal counseling, provide support for students with disabilities, and develop programs that complement the law school curriculum and enrich the student experience both in and beyond the classroom. We are here to help you thrive at the Law School and to manage any concern, conflict, or wellness challenge you may encounter during your time here.
The Law School's Student Services Department maintains connections with other resources on campus, including the Office of Residence Life, Center for Counseling and Consultation, Disability Services and the Title IX Office. We focus on issues affecting the student community and act as the primary liaison between students, faculty, the administration, and the main University. To achieve this, we host a number of student-focused events from wellness programs to presentations on academics or the bar exam. Additionally, we coordinate a robust peer-mentorship program geared to help you build community and connect to others during your time here.
We encourage all students to seek out and create opportunities to enhance their learning in and outside the classroom. We foster and open door policy and encourage students to visit our office to ask questions or share concerns affecting the Law School community.
Public Safety
St. John’s University Department of Public Safety provides safety and security services to our community 24 hours per day, every day of the year. We work together with our partners on and off campus to create and maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students, faculty, staff and visitors.
